Matthias Lenfant, MD

Doctoral researcher

Matthias Lenfant graduated medical school at the KU Leuven in 2018, and is currently completing his training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. During his training, he performed internships at AZ Damiaan (Ostend, Belgium) and the University Hospitals Leuven (Leuven, Belgium).

In October 2021, he partially interrupted his training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology to start his doctoral research entitled ‘Role of histological remission and mucosal healing as a novel therapeutic target for inflammatory bowel disease’ under supervision of prof. Séverine Vermeire, prof. Gert De Hertogh, and prof. João Sabino.  To perform this research, he received a research grant from the Belgian IBD Research Group (BIRD) for this project.
