Kaline graduated in Biomedical Sciences at the Transnational University Limburg (UHasselt-Maastricht University) in 2016, and performed part of her training at the Autonomous University of Madrid (2015).
From 2017-2021, she investigated ‘The interaction between intestinal epithelial cells and microbiota in inflammatory bowel diseases’ during her PhD at the IBD research group under supervision of Prof. Ferrante, Prof. Verfaillie and Prof. Sabino.
After her PhD, she performed an eight months research stay at McGill University, Montréal, Canada on the topic of microfluidics and advanced cellular microenvironments.
Upon her return, Kaline is focusing on the development of patient derived organoid models to unravel mechanisms underlying IBD.
