Sybren Rinckhout graduated in Biomedical Sciences at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) in June 2024. During his Master, he completed an internship at the Laboratory of Brain-Gut Axis studies (LaBGAS), where he investigated the role of colonic butyrate on the stress response. Intrigued by gut-brain axis research, he characterized the gut-brain axis in an animal model of irritable bowel syndrome during his master thesis, where he gained additional experience in brain imaging techniques. In October 2024, he started his PhD at the IBD Leuven group and LabGas, where he investigates the role of the gut-immune-brain axis in IBD-related fatigue.
