Abdominal imaging

Dirk Vanbeckevoort graduated in 1989 as MD at the KU Leuven, Leuven, Belgium. As a staff member in the department of Radiology at the University Hospitals Leuven he performs research on pelvic floor imaging and imaging of bile and pancreatic ducts; in particular magnetic resonance cholangio-pancreaticography (MRCP).

Current professional interests also include inflammatory bowel disease, mainly CT and MR enterography and MR of anal sphincters. He was member of the PROCARE research group, which focused on MRI-staging of rectal carcinoma in Belgium. He is (co)author of more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific papers as well as author and co-editor of several chapters in five books dealing with abdominal imaging.
