IBD Biobank

Our CCare (former VLECC) databank is an electronic database of all IBD patients who are followed at our department. This database, and the fully electronic clinical charts of our patients enable us to perform specific outcome studies.

Overall, this database contains over 2.000 Crohn's disease patients, more than 700 ulcerative colitis patients, and 160 patients with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. We recently completed a long-term study on efficacy and safety of all patients (>700) treated with infliximab. We have over 800 patients treated with azathioprine, 200 with Methotrexate and >200 with adalimumab. Furthermore, for all patients in the database, DNA , serum and in most patients also tissue (after informed consent) is available which serves as an ideal tool for translational research.
